GARLAND NEWTON: HRD (land and water)

Garland is a member of Black Diamond Search and Rescue Council and has been involved in K9 Search and Rescue for about 8 years, starting off training his first dog K9 Pepper in trailing who is now partnered with his Wife Dorothy as a VDEM Certified wilderness live find team. He decided to choose the discipline of Human Remains Detection and along with his partner K9 Fargo became a VDEM Certified Operational Team in 2016 and recently (2019) acquired their Type 1 Water Recovery certification after completing both shoreline and boat requirements. This will be his sixth year with Old Dominion K9 as an Instructor with the HR group. “I have always had a love for dogs and once I discovered K9 Search and Rescue there was no turning back! This has got to be one of the most enjoyable, informative seminars I have ever had the privilege of attending and being able to actually be a part.
