Chris began his career in law enforcement in 2008 as a Correctional Officer for the Charles County Sheriff's Office, transferring to the Patrol division in 2011. He began training with the K9 Unit in 2016, with the goal of attaining one of the highly sought after Handler positions. In 2018, Chris achieved this goal and was partnered with his first K9, Oakley, a Dutch Shepherd. Together they trained and certified for the dual purpose of Patrol/Narcotics detection. In 2019, Chris was invited to take part in the newly regenerated CCSO Bloodhound program with K9 Bo. At only 6 months, K9 Bo passed his first certification at Old Dominion K9. Chris is on the US Park Police Search and Rescue call out and fly list. He has received numerous awards and commendations during his career, including two Bronze Medals of Valor, numerous Life Saved awards, a Sheriff's Award and has been named a Hometown Hero for a lifesaving event. Chris is an avid sportsman and raises livestock on his farm with his wife and two children.
